2-Methyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-3-carbaldehyde is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is a biphenyl derivative. It can be used as a reagent for catalytic hydrogenation and reduction reactions. 2-Methyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-3-carbaldehyde can also be used as a solvent or chemical reagent in the synthesis of other compounds. This compound is typically dissolved in solvents such as benzene or toluene and reacted with sodium borohydride or potassium borohydride at temperatures between -10°C and 100°C. The reaction products are mainly alcohols, ketones, esters, amines, ethers, carboxylic acids and nitriles.
