Description:

2-Methylthiophene-3-carboxylic acid is a sodium salt that is used as an anti-inflammatory agent. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity when tested in rats. 2-Methylthiophene-3-carboxylic acid also has the ability to stimulate glucose uptake and inhibit glucose production, which may be due to its ability to interact with the sodium ion channels on the surface of pancreatic cells. This compound is an isomer of thiourea, and can be synthesized from this molecule by chlorination.
