Description

Methyl 4-bromo-2-(bromomethyl)benzoate is a chemical compound that is used for the synthesis of other chemicals. It has been shown to have bactericidal activity against gram-negative bacteria, but it does not have any antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria. Methyl 4-bromo-2-(bromomethyl)benzoate targets antibiotic resistant bacteria by binding to the hydrophobic pockets in their cell walls. This chemical also targets exploratory antibiotics, which are antibiotics that are not yet known. Methyl 4-bromo-2-(bromomethyl)benzoate binds to the lipopolysaccharide surface and prevents the construction of new cell walls by inhibiting the enzymes involved in bacterial wall synthesis.
