Description:
2-Methoxyisonicotinonitrile (2MI) is an isoenzyme inhibitor of both cyclooxygenase-1 and -2. It also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species. 2MI has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of inflammatory reactions, such as gastric ulceration, fever, and edema in animal models. 2MI has a pharmacophore that is similar to that of aspirin and celecoxib, but it does not inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
