Product Information
- 4-Methyl-1,3-oxazole-5-carboxylic acid
4-Methyloxazole-5-carboxylic acid is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of organic compounds called heterocycles. It is biosynthesized from formaldehyde and it has been shown that it can be synthesized regiospecifically by reacting with chloroformates. The analogs of this compound are tissue culture derived, and it has been shown that they have the potential to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. 4-Methyloxazole-5-carboxylic acid is an anti-inflammatory agent which inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in animal models. This drug also has properties similar to those of theophylline, which may be due to its ability to produce phosphodiesterase inhibition and calcium mobilization in tissues.
