Description

Methyl 1-benzylpyrrolidine-3-carboxylate is a chemical compound that inhibits the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. It binds to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. Methyl 1-benzylpyrrolidine-3-carboxylate is effective against gram negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. It also has antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis.
