Methyl 2-chlorothiazole-5-carboxylate has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation and cancer growth in cell culture and animal models. The sulfoxide group is thought to be responsible for its cytotoxic activity by inhibiting the cycle at G1/G0 phase transition.
