Description

Methyl 2-methoxynicotinate is a synthetic intermediate that can be used for the synthesis of medicines. It is prepared by a cross-coupling reaction with n-hexane. Irradiation of methyl 2-methoxynicotinate postulated to lead to the formation of an excited state that could be responsible for the observed ultraviolet spectrophotometric shifts in wavelength. In addition, methyl 2-methoxynicotinate has been shown to react with boronic acids and lactams under basic conditions, yielding products with spirocyclic structures.
