6-Methyl-2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde is a white solid that has been found to be an intermediate in the synthesis of melamine. It has been analyzed by spectroscopy and found to contain substituents such as atropisomers and isomer. 6-Methyl-2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde can be formed by condensation between two anilines or through a steric reaction with porphyrin.
