Product Information
- Phenol, 3-Methoxy-4-Nitro-
3-Methoxy-4-nitrophenol is a mutagen that produces reactive oxygen species (ROS) and interacts with other compounds. ROS are generated by the oxidation of 3-methoxy-4-nitrophenol, which leads to the formation of methemoglobin. 3-Methoxy-4-nitrophenol is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 system and forms vanillyl alcohol, which has been shown to be mutagenic in bacteria. The chloride ion is produced during this process, which may lead to regression when analyzing data using linear regression. 3-Methoxy-4-nitrophenol can also react with sulfur dioxide in the presence of light to produce chloroform, carbon monoxide, and nitrous oxide. Schistosomiasis can be treated by 3-methoxy 4 nitrophenol as it inhibits protein synthesis and induces apoptosis in schistosome parasites.
