Product Information
- 4-Bromo-3-Methoxybenzoic Acid Methyl Ester
4-Bromo-3-methoxybenzoate is a synthetic radiotracer used for PET imaging of the brain. It has been shown to have high uptake in animals and predictable uptake in humans, with no significant interactions. It also has an excellent selectivity for the brain relative to other tissues. 4-Bromo-3-methoxybenzoate binds to the benzodiazepine site on GABA(A) receptors and can be used as a positron emission tomography (PET) ligand in receptor binding studies. This compound is prepared by nitrosation of methyl 4-bromo-3-methoxybenzoate with nitric acid followed by reductive elimination with sodium borohydride.
