Product Information
4-Methylpent-4-enoic acid (4MPEA) is a factor that can be used for the synthesis of ophthalmic formulations. It has shown to be efficient in the production of acrylic acid linkers. 4MPEA has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria, including gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. 4MPEA binds to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. The affinity of 4MPEA for these two enzymes may be due to its ability to act as a competitive inhibitor or substrate analog. This drug also interacts with organic solvents such as polystyrene, making it unsuitable for use in ophthalmic preparations.
