3-Methylisoxazole is an organic compound that has a hydroxyl group and a methyl group. It is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and sulfa drugs. 3-Methylisoxazole is used as a substrate for protein glycosylation to produce amide bonds. 3-Methylisoxazole also has protease activity, an acylation reaction with benzalkonium chloride, and an iodination reaction with trifluoroacetic acid. 3-Methylisoxazole reacts to form p-hydroxybenzoic acid when heated with hydrogen peroxide or sodium hypochlorite.
