Synonyms:
  • 1-Methyl-5-phenylpyrazole

  • Pyrazole, 1-methyl-5-phenyl-
Description:

1-Methyl-5-phenyl-1H-pyrazole is a dihedral molecule with a chiral center. It is an isomer of methylpyrazole, which has the same molecular formula but different structures. The 1-methyl imidazole ring can undergo isomerizations to expand its possible orientations; it also undergoes photocyclization and photocleavage reactions. Irradiation causes 1-methyl-5-phenyl-1H pyrazole to form propiophenone, which can be used as a photoacid generator in organic chemistry. This compound can also be used as a labeling agent for various substances, including methylimidazole.
