Product Information

Name:
Methyl 2-amino-5-methoxybenzoate
Synonyms:
  • Benzoic acid, 2-amino-5-methoxy-, methyl ester
  • Methyl 2-amino-5-methoxybenzoate
Description:

Methyl 2-amino-5-methoxybenzoate is an amide that can be synthesized by the reaction of methylamine and benzoic acid. The synthesis of this compound was used to study the effects of radiation on human cancer cells. This amide has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines, which are molecules that play a role in inflammation. It also inhibits the production of cholesterol and triglycerides in animals, which may be linked to its effectiveness against lipidemia. Methyl 2-amino-5-methoxybenzoate is also effective against Alzheimer's disease by suppressing beta-amyloid plaques that are associated with this disease. It can be administered orally or intravenously for prevention or treatment.>>END>>
