Product Information
- 3-Methoxypicolinic Acid
- 3-Methoxypyridine-2-Carboxylic Acid
3-Methoxypicolinic acid is a carboxylic acid that is a metabolite of pyridoxal phosphate. It has been shown to be clinically effective in the treatment of HIV infection and can also inhibit viral replication in vitro. 3-Methoxypicolinic acid has been shown to bind to the HIV protease, which is responsible for cleaving the viral polyprotein into individual proteins, and inhibiting HIV-1 protease activity. 3-Methoxypicolinic acid may also act as a dimerizer, enhancing its binding affinity with other compounds through hydrogen bonding. As such, it may have potential clinical use in drug resistance mutations.
