Product Information

Name:
3-Methoxy-4-nitroaniline
Synonyms:
  • 3-Methoxy-4-nitrobenzenamine
  • Benzenamine, 3-methoxy-4-nitro-
  • m-Anisidine, 4-nitro-
Description:

3-Methoxy-4-nitroaniline is a monomer that can be obtained from 3-methoxy-4-nitrophenol by catalytic reduction with hydrogen gas in the presence of palladium on charcoal. It is used in the production of dyes and pharmaceuticals, but can also be used to produce pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. 3-Methoxy-4-nitroaniline has been shown to have a synergistic effect with other compounds such as paraquat, which increases its toxicity to microbes. The biotransformation products of 3-methoxy-4-nitroaniline are not well understood because it is an insensitive compound.
