Methyl 2-amino-3-hydroxybenzoate is an orally active anti-cancer drug that inhibits the function of 5-HT3 receptors. It is synthesized from carboxamide and methylamine, with a reactive group attached to one end of the molecule. The other end is then reacted with hydrochloric acid to form the desired product. Methyl 2-amino-3-hydroxybenzoate is used as a reagent in chemical synthesis, as well as in the optimization of anti-cancer drugs. This compound is also used as a dehydrating agent in organic synthesis and can be used to hydrolyze esters.
