Product Information
Methyl 2-chloroquinoline-6-carboxylate is a potassium channel activator. It binds to the extracellular N terminus of the calcium-activated potassium channel and directly activates it. This compound has shown to be an agonist at the tetrahydroquinoline site on the potassium channel, which is located on the membrane. Activation of this site leads to an increase in spontaneous neuronal firing and a decrease in spontaneous neurotransmitter release. Methyl 2-chloroquinoline-6-carboxylate has been shown to produce migraine attacks in humans by activating voltage-gated calcium channels.
Methyl 2-chloroquinoline-6-carboxylate also inhibits the uptake of acetylcholine, as well as increasing levels of dopamine and serotonin in rats.
