N-Methylthiazol-2-amine is a drug that has been developed for the treatment of cancer. It has shown cytotoxic effects against lymphomas and leukemias in animal studies. It also has been shown to reduce the severity of thrombocytopenia in mice with induced myeloid leukemia. N-Methylthiazol-2-amine is a rhenium compound that binds to DNA, inhibiting transcription and replication by binding to the enzyme DNA gyrase. This drug is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for tuberculosis and other bacterial infections, including those caused by methicillin resistant strains. The salt form of the drug is soluble in water, making it an ideal candidate for intravenous or oral administration.
