5-Methylpyrazinone is an amide that is a potent inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase c-Kit. It forms a pairwise and diffraction isomer with golvatinib, which can be used to differentiate these compounds. 5-Methylpyrazinone has been shown to have anticancer effects in both cell culture and animal studies. This compound also has the ability to inhibit cancer cell proliferation by binding to the ATP site on c-Kit, preventing its phosphorylation. 5-Methylpyrazinone has been shown to be effective against prostate cancer cells and may be useful as a treatment for this type of cancer.
