Description:
4-(4-Methylpiperazin-1-ylmethyl)benzoylchloride is an amidating agent that is used in the industrial production of Gleevec. 4-(4-Methylpiperazin-1-ylmethyl)benzoylchloride, when mixed with 3-bromo-4-methylaniline, undergoes a nucleophilic substitution reaction and forms the corresponding amide. Gleevec is a cancer drug that prevents the assembly of proteins involved in cell division by inhibiting protein tyrosine kinases.
