It is a cocatalyst for the dehydrohalogenation of halogenated hydrocarbons to form epoxides and other functional groups. 2,2'-((1-Methylethylidene)bis(cyclohexane-4,1-diyloxymethylene))bisoxirane is also used as an additive to increase the valency of alkali metals and can be used in the production of polymers. 2,2'-((1-Methylethylidene)bis(cyclohexane-4,1-diyloxymethylene))bisoxirane has a divalent functional group that allows it to react with two different molecules at the same time.
