Product Information
- 2-Hydroxy-3-pyridinecarboxylic acid methyl ester
Methyl2-hydroxynicotinate is a photophysical compound that is an intramolecular hydrogen donor. It has been shown to react with proton, carbonyl group, and lactam. Methyl2-hydroxynicotinate can be used to measure ultraviolet spectrophotometrically. This substance has been shown to have exothermic reaction. Methyl2-hydroxynicotinate also reacts with n-hexane in the presence of ultraviolet light via transfer reactions. The functional theory has been used to predict the structure of methyl2-hydroxynicotinate. Nonpolar solvents are required for this molecule because it is not soluble in polar solvents such as water or ethanol.
Methyl2-hydroxynicotinate has been found to fluoresce in the presence of histone H3, which can be used as a marker for DNA replication.
