Description:
1-Methylcyclopropanemethanol is an organometallic compound that has antibacterial activity. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the active site of methane monooxygenase and blocking its ability to bind with hydrogen fluoride, which is a substrate of this enzyme. 1-Methylcyclopropanemethanol also has a non-polar solvent property, which allows it to penetrate bacterial cell membranes and inhibit bacterial metabolism. This drug targets methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli.
