Product Information

Name:
2-Methoxymethylphenylboronicacid
Synonyms:
  • 2-Methoxymethylphenylboronic Acid
Description:

2-Methoxymethylphenylboronic acid (2MMPA) is a boronic acid that has been used to synthesize a number of substituted phenylboronic esters. The crystal structure and the surface analysis of 2MMPA have been investigated. The crystal structure of 2MMPA was found to be monoclinic and space group P21/c. The molecular geometry was found to be composed of an agostic-type binding between the phenyl ring and d-glucose, which is adjacent to the boron atom with a supramolecular hydrogen bond. The molecular geometry of 2MMPA in solution was also studied using NMR spectroscopy and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. This showed that 2MMPA exists as a dimer in solution with two phenyl rings oriented orthogonal to each other, forming a d-galactose molecule between them.
