4-Methyl-4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride (MCDA) is a polymeric matrix that is used as the epoxy resin. MCDA has high resistance to heat and chemicals and is soluble in organic solvents. This compound has been shown to be a good viscosity modifier for polycarboxylic acids and fatty acids. MCDA can be modified with potassium dichromate, boron nitride, or other modifiers to produce different structures. Activation energies of this polymer are high and it has a high value gravimetrically. The molecular weight of this material is greater than 1000 g/mol. Aliphatic hydrocarbons can also react with MCDA to form polymers.
