Product Information

Name:
3-Methoxyphenylacetylchloride
Synonyms:
  • (3-Methoxyphenyl)acetyl chloride
  • Benzeneacetyl Chloride, 3-Methoxy-
Description:

3-Methoxyphenylacetylchloride (3MPAC) is a selective inhibitor of the enzyme dehydrogenase, which catalyzes the conversion of 3-methoxyphenylacetic acid to 3-hydroxyphenylacetic acid. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of 3-methoxyphenylacetic acid, which is then converted by other enzymes to quinazolinones. The quinazolinones are potent analgesic agents and are also used in the synthesis of opioid receptor antagonists. 3MPAC has been shown to be effective against exudate from patients with naphthalene poisoning and as a potent analgesic agent for treating pain.
