Description:

Melaminecyanurate is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water. It is used as a corrosion inhibitor and an agent for removing scale from metal surfaces. Melaminecyanurate reacts with metal hydroxides to form a polycarboxylic acid and calcium carbonate, which removes the metal hydroxide from the surface. Melaminecyanurate has been shown to be more effective than other compounds, such as magnesium nitrate or calcium chloride, at preventing corrosion of metals. It also has a low thermal expansion coefficient and high heat stability, making it suitable for use in hot-water pipes. When heated above 100°C, melamine cyanurate decomposes into urea nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, and carbon dioxide gas.
