Description:
4-(Methylamino)-3-nitro-benzoic acid ethylester is a heterocyclic compound with the pyridine ring system. It can be synthesized by reacting formamide and potassium cyanate with ethyl esters of 4-methylphenylacetic acid in the presence of hydrazine. The reaction is performed under anhydrous conditions to prevent hydrolysis of the ester group. The resulting product is purified by column chromatography, filtration, and recrystallization from ethyl acetate.
