3-(Methylthio)phenylboronicacid is a boron-containing compound that is used as a reagent in organic chemistry. It has been shown to be reactive with vinyl ethers, epoxides, and fluorescein-labeled esters. 3-(Methylthio)phenylboronic acid can be used to initiate the polymerization of monomers by irradiation with ultraviolet light or other forms of electromagnetic radiation. This reagent has also been shown to induce the cleavage of cyclic compounds in photolysis experiments.
