Description:
1-Methyl-cyclobutanecarboxylicacid is a solvent with a variety of industrial applications, such as in the manufacturing of polyester and nylon. 1-Methyl-cyclobutanecarboxylicacid is also used to modify the kinetics of other chemical reactions. It has been shown to increase the reaction rate by lowering the activation energy barrier. The metabolite 1-methyl-cyclobutanecarboxylic acid (1MC) is found in rat liver microsomes and can be produced from 1-methylcyclobutane carboxylic acid (1MC). This metabolic pathway has been studied using positron emission tomography (PET) studies. Optimization experiments have been carried out on this molecule to find a more efficient synthesis process.
