4-Methylindole-2-carboxylicacid is a reactive molecule with a carbon nucleus that is a nucleophile. It reacts with other carbon nucleophiles to form new bonds, such as the endoperoxide shown in the figure. 4-Methylindole-2-carboxylic acid is used in organic synthesis as a stannous salt, and can be used to produce carboxylates from alcohols.
