Description

3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)propionylchloride is a white solid that is insoluble in water. It has a melting point of about 135°C and a boiling point of about 225°C. 3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)propionylchloride can be prepared by condensing chloroacetone with propionic acid chloride in the presence of an amine base, such as sodium ethoxide or piperidine. The molecular weight of this compound is 284.3 g/mol and it has the chemical formula CHClOCHCOCHCH.
