Product Information
- 1H-indazole, 1-methyl-7-nitro-
- N-Methyl-7-nitroindazole
1-Methyl-7-nitroindazole is a nitro compound that is used in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. It inhibits the synthesis of nitric oxide, which is important for neuronal function and survival. 1-Methyl-7-nitroindazole also has an inhibitory effect on the formation of cyclic guanosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cGMP), which leads to inhibition of protein kinase G, and thus preventing the activation of phosphatases. This leads to the stabilization of neuronal cells and protection from degeneration. 1-Methyl-7-nitroindazole binds to the active site on enzyme nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and prevents it from forming nitric oxide. This compound also inhibits xanthine oxidase, which converts xanthine into uric acid, thereby lowering serum levels of uric acid.
