The morphological and molecular phylogenetic analyses of this molecule provided evidence that it is not toxic to noninsects such as frogs or mammals. In addition, 6-methoxy-1H-indole-3 carbonitrile has been shown to inhibit the growth of fungi such as pruinosa, which causes powdery mildew on grape vines.
