Description:
2-Methylthiophene-3-thiol is a reactive, ionizable, and isolable compound that is found in food chemistry. It has been shown to react with disulfides to form alicyclic compounds as well as react with electrons, which leads to the production of free radicals. 2-Methylthiophene-3-thiol also reacts with functional groups (e.g., amines), producing a variety of products. In addition, 2-methylthiophene-3-thiol can be used as a model system for studying the effects of neutral pH on chemical interactions and reactions.
