Description

(E)-3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-ol is a reactive chemical. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of CD-1 mice that have been injected with the chemical. The hydroxyl group in this compound interacts with the enzyme's active site and prevents it from functioning. This inhibition of the enzyme leads to apoptotic effects and causes cell death by inhibiting transcription, DNA replication, and protein synthesis. (E)-3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-ol also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
