Description:

Methyl 3-(Chloroformyl)Benzoate is a monomethyl ester of benzoic acid. It is used in the synthesis of polymers, as a component for dicarboxylic acids, and as a linker for pharmaceuticals. Methyl 3-(Chloroformyl)Benzoate has been shown to inhibit the formation of triglycerides by inhibiting the enzyme lipase. This inhibition may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of free fatty acids from triglycerides or because it can act as a competitive inhibitor with respect to the enzyme. Methyl 3-(Chloroformyl)Benzoate has also been shown to have anti-obesity effects in db/db mice by reducing food intake and body weight gain.
