Product Information

Name:
METHYL 3,5-DIMETHYLBENZOATE
Synonyms:
  • Benzoic acid, 3,5-dimethyl-, methyl ester
Description:

Methyl 3,5-dimethoxybenzoate is a fluorescent compound that can be used in thin film technology, as an imprinting agent, or as a molecular sensor. Methyl 3,5-dimethoxybenzoate has been shown to interact with hexane and introduce fluorescence into the thin film. This interaction is due to the dipole moments of methyl 3,5-dimethoxybenzoate and hexane. The introduction of fluorescence into the thin film changes the optical spectra of the film and can be used with other compounds to form fluorescent compounds. Methyl 3,5-dimethoxybenzoate is also known to produce a characteristic spectrum when excited by light at 365 nm.
