Product Information

Name:
2-Methyloxazolo[4,5-b]pyridine
Synonyms:
  • Oxazolo[4,5-B]Pyridine, 2-Methyl-
Description:

2-Methyloxazolo[4,5-b]pyridine is a hemicyanine dye that has been shown to be photostable and fluorescent. It has been used in the detection of DNA and protein as well as in the study of the kinetics of chromatin condensation. 2-Methyloxazolo[4,5-b]pyridine binds to nucleic acids by covalent binding to the N7 position of guanine. The chemical structure consists of an indolium group linked to a benzothiazolium group via an alkyl chain. This chemical is a member of a class called hemicyanines, which have a characteristic dipole moment and are capable of fluorescence. 2-Methyloxazolo[4,5-b]pyridine can be used for staining experiments with cells such as V79 cells, which are Chinese hamster ovary cells that have been transfected
