Monoisopropylfumarate is a functional group that has been shown to act as a Toll-like receptor modulator. It is the monomeric form of fumaric acid and is used as a polymerization initiator in the production of polymers. Monoisopropylfumarate has been shown to have atrial and aromatic hydrocarbon functional groups. In vivo animal studies show that this chemical can produce an increase in viscosity, which may be due to its ability to modify the activity of toll-like receptors. Monoisopropylfumarate also has pharmacokinetic properties, such as being able to inhibit HIV infection by inhibiting the reactivity of toll-like receptors.
