Product Information
Methyl 1H-benzo[d]imidazole-2-carboxylate (MBIC) is a photoactive compound that produces singlet oxygen upon exposure to light. It has been shown to be cytotoxic in human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells, as well as in the cells of other tumor cell lines. MBIC is also a potent inhibitor of DNA synthesis and RNA transcription. This may be due to its ability to generate singlet oxygen and inhibit the activity of DNA gyrase and RNA polymerase II.
