Product Information
N-(3-Methylpyridin-2-yl)acetamide is an amide with a diphosphine ligand. It is synthesized in a stepwise process by the reaction of acetamide and 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine in the presence of phosphorus pentachloride. The chloride anion acts as a nucleophile to attack the phosphine ligand. This compound has been shown to be useful as a ligand for metal ions such as copper or silver. It also binds to the halides, which are negatively charged anions. N-(3-methylpyridin-2-yl)acetamide has a pyridine ring that is conformationally flexible.
