1-Methylcyclopropanecarboxamide is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is involved in the production of uric acid. 1-Methylcyclopropanecarboxamide has been shown to be an effective treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and arthritis in mice. It was also found to be well tolerated when given orally to mice. Further preclinical studies are required before this drug can be tested on humans.
