2-Methyl-4H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]thiazole is a compound that can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of a number of drugs. It is obtained by esterification of 2-methylpyridine with thiolacetic acid, followed by bromination and reduction. This research chemical has been shown to have physiological activity. The substituent group on the 2-methyl group may be changed through esterification to produce different derivatives with different properties. The sequentially esterified derivative has been shown to have higher solubility than the unsubstituted form.
