Product Information
2-Methyl-1-(2H3)methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazole is a chemical compound that is used in the preparation of dimetridazole-d3, an organic solvent. 2-Methyl-1-(2H3)methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazole is also used as a reagent for the detection of bacterial vaginosis and amoebiasis. In this process, nitroimidazoles are extracted from vaginal swabs with an organic solvent and then reacted with 2,4,6,-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid to form dimetridazole dyes. These dyes are then separated by gel chromatography. The detection sensitivity can be adjusted by changing the concentration of 2,4,6,-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid or the type of gel to use.
