Myristoyl choline iodide is a compound derived from wheat germ oil that has been shown to interact with amphiphiles, such as alkylamines and halides. It has been shown to activate the fluorescence of avian erythrocytes and enhance the light chain kinase activity in chicken skeletal muscle. Myristoyl choline iodide also has the ability to bind to proteins, such as myosin and calmodulin. The carbon chain of this compound has a protein kinase-like activity.
