Product Information
- (2-Methoxy-1-naphthyl)boronic acid
2-Methoxy-1-naphthaleneboronic acid is a ligand for asymmetric synthesis. It is used in the demethylation of carbinols and halides to produce enantiopure carbinols and halides. The compound is also used as a chiral auxiliary in the kinetic resolution of racemic carboxylic acids to produce optically pure acids. In addition, 2-methoxy-1-naphthaleneboronic acid has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the catalytic asymmetric cross coupling of aldehydes with trifluoromethanesulfonate (triflate). The crystal structures of this compound have been determined by x-ray crystallography.
2-Methoxy-1-naphthaleneboronic acid is prepared by treating naphthaldehyde with boric acid in ethanol at refluxing temperature.
