Description:

Methyl 9-formylnonanoate is a clear, colorless liquid with a sweet odor and an oily texture. It is an organic solvent that can be used as a reaction medium for esterification reactions. This product has been shown to react with oxygen in the presence of light to form oxidation products, such as peroxides and hydroperoxides. Methyl 9-formylnonanoate has also been shown to react with enolate ions and produce methyl ketones. It reacts with macrolides, which are antibiotics, to form model studies. The fatty acids found in this product react with the fatty acid markers on the enzyme diode to produce carbocycles and primary alcohols.
